Masterbuilt 40" smoker with window. I wanted more smoke and was having trouble with my chips not burning to ash. I stumbled upon the smoking meats forum (www.smokingmeatsforums.com) and tried a couple mods listed on their site. First mod was to cut a large hole in the chip tray enclosure with a hole saw to improve airflow. Next I removed the two pop rivets that held the piece of metal in place between the chip tray and the heating element. This made the chip tray drop about .5 inches closer to the element. Last modification was to attach an extension pipe with a 3" 90 degere pipe from Lowes. It worked out very well since it has three segments that rotate to adjust the shape. Total cost of the mods = .47 and 30 min of time. I hope this helps someone else enjoy this wonderful smoker even more.
